Frost and Flurry Fabric Tour

Hello, friends—happy Wednesday!

I’m so delighted to welcome you to my stop on the Poppie Cotton Frost and Flurry Fabric Tour! ❄️✨ Thank you for popping by—it's always a treat to have you here.

Today, I’m thrilled to share four special pieces I created using the brand-new Frost and Flurry Collection by the talented Sheri McCulley for Poppie Cotton. As soon as I saw these whimsical winter prints, I couldn’t wait to put on my quilt designer hat and dive in!

This charming collection (shipping to quilt shops this month!) is filled with delightful seasonal motifs—think snowmen, reindeer, owls, foxes, ornaments, snowflakes, tossed flowers, and winter berries—all wrapped in a cozy palette of greens, reds, pinks, blues, and snowy whites. It’s the perfect mix of festive and heartwarming, and I had so much fun bringing these prints to life.

For my first project, I created a charming small quilt that also works beautifully as a table topper. Measuring 25 ½” x 25 ½”, this piece features a delightful mix of machine appliqué snowflake blocks and foundation pieced tree blocks, bringing a cozy winter scene to life. I used Country Confetti, one of Poppie Cotton’s lovely basics, for the snowflakes, tree backgrounds, and binding—it adds just the right touch of texture and whimsy. The quilt is finished with hanging tabs, making it perfect for display on a small quilt hanger or as a festive accent on your holiday table. I didn’t follow a pattern for this one—it was a fun, creative journey as I designed it along the way!

Next up, I stitched up two adorable project bags—one small and one medium—each with its own personality and charm!

The small zippered pouch measures 7 ¾" W x by 7" H and features sweet appliqué wool felt motifs across the bottom fabric strip, accented with hand-dyed rick rack trim along the bottom for a playful touch. I added a bit of whimsy with a baker’s twine zipper pull, giving it a handmade, homespun feel.

The medium zippered bag measures 9 ½" W x 9 ¾" H and is a cheerful patchwork design that showcases a variety of prints from the Frost and Flurry collection. For a fun focal point, I created an appliqué snow globe block in the lower right-hand corner using fussy cut fabric and Benzie Design Wool Blend Felt. Inside the globe, I added round and star sequins to mimic falling snow, along with some hand stitching for extra texture and sparkle. Like the smaller pouch, this one is finished with a baker’s twine zipper pull for a cohesive, handmade look.

Again, I didn’t follow a pattern for these zippered pouches—just played in my studio and let the fabrics guide the way!

And finally, I created a wintery twist on my Sweet Sewing Book—a cozy little sewing/needlebook that measures 6 ¼" x 6 ¼" when closed. For the cover, I designed another appliqué snow globe, using fussy cut fabric and wool felt, embellished with round and star sequins to mimic falling snow. A bit of hand stitching adds texture and charm, and the whole scene is framed with hand-dyed rick rack from Lady Dot Creates

Inside, the book features multiple pockets and two wool felt needle pages made from Benzie Design Wool Blend Felt, each decorated with sweet fussy cut fabric motifs. The scissor tie is made from hand-dyed twill tape (also from Lady Dot Creates), and the closure is finished with a vintage button and elastic loop for a nostalgic touch. As a fun detail, I included a tree needle minder inside, made using fabric from a previous Poppie Cotton collection. I also added the perfect decorative pins from (my favorite) Puntini Puntini.

Again, I didn’t follow a pattern for this one either—I designed it along the way.
