Greetings friends! It is new project tutorial day - time to share my February project created for Therm O Web with you! I always enjoy putting on my Fabric Education Designer hat and creating new projects/tutorials to share with you on the Therm O Web blog. Each month, I share a new project and you give you my tips and tricks for using their wonderful line of fabric, craft, and sewing products. For the month of February, the blog is focused on quick scrappy projects, kitchen sewing, paper-piecing, and sewing for kids. I created a brand new project that was posted yesterday - it is a complete project tutorial for my "Scrappy Shamrocks" small quilt. My comprehensive tutorial contains a complete supply list, printable pattern with templates, and step-by-step directions with color photos. This is a fast and easy project, perfect for using up scraps and great for beginners. I chose to use green and white fabric scraps from my stash. You can make this quilt as small or as large as you like - simply adjust the number of 6" finished blocks you use. My finished quilt is 24" x 24" - a great size for a wall hanging or a table topper. I hope you will stop by the Therm O Web blog and check out my project and tutorial...
To find the exact wrought iron quilt hanger I used, along with other supplies listed, visit my Scrappy Shamrocks Supply List on Amazon (full disclosure: as an Amazon Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases - I only share products I actually use - and I truly appreciate you shopping from my links, thank you!).
Are you familiar with HeatnBond Lite EZ-Print Iron-On Adhesive Sheets? I use these for almost every project I create with appliqué. HeatnBond Lite EZ-Print Iron-On Adhesive Sheets are paper backed, iron-on, sewable, double-sided adhesive for bonding fabric without extra weight or stiffness - and the best part?? - they measure 8.5" x 11" to fit in a standard inkjet printer - NO TRACING INVOLVED! The templates I provide for each of my projects are printed on 8.5" x 11" paper, so you can print the templates directly on the HeatnBond Lite Adhesive Sheets and skip the tracing step. I always have these stocked in my sewing studio!!
I hope this project gets you excited to create something special and unique...
I am creating monthly projects for the Therm O Web Blog and I will be sure to post here when I have a new tutorial available. My next project is scheduled for March 11th and I am working on another fun, seasonal idea (think springtime🐰)!
Thank you for stopping by for a visit today - I always enjoy sharing with you. Have a great week and make time to work on something creative...
Greetings friends! It has been a super busy week, but I had to stop by and visit with you again today - I wanted to share photos from my second cookie decorating class over the weekend...
You may remember reading about my dear friend Leslie and I taking a Christmas cookie decorating class in December. This past Saturday (the day before the Super Bowl), we took a second class and invited two more friends along for the fun! Living in Kansas City, of course this class was a Chiefs cookie decorating class. We visited the same local small business owner that teaches cookie decorating classes in her home. Cindy's Cookie Co. is located in Olathe, KS...and if you are in the area, you should check her out! We arrived at 10:00 AM on Saturday morning for the 2-hour sold-out class. We each had our own workstations with six fresh baked sugar cookies, several bags of royal icing and all the tools needed to complete our decorating. This time we were able to be a little more creative and pick how we wanted to decorate a couple of the cookies. I opted to put #95 on my jersey (popular numbers were 15, 87 and 10, but I opted for a defensive player) and I decided to put TRAVIS on my friendship bracelet (it worked for my husband - his name is Travis...and for Travis Kelce). I felt more comfortable working with royal icing this time and I did a pretty good job - in fact, everyone did...we had a great teacher. She gave us more tips and tricks regarding tools and supplies and where to purchase materials...we had a practice sheet to work with the icing before starting our cookies...plus she had a bottle of water and a snack at each workstation. We had such a great time! Plus, Leslie embroidered matching Chiefs aprons for the four of us, which made the day even more special and memorable!
The teacher's assortment of cookies...
I also have some photos from Union Station in KC with all the Chiefs decor - the entire city has been RED for a few weeks! I asked for a Super Bowl win again this year for my birthday and our hometown heros did not disappoint (my husband told me not to get used to this gift every year! 😂). We will be headed downtown bright and early tomorrow morning to attend the Super Bowl parade and rally at Union Station - which we know will be insane (plus the best people watching around). We will be spending our Valentine's Day with a million plus members of Chiefs Kingdom...it will be an adventure!
Greetings creative friends - thank you for joining me during the 12 Days of Valentines with Poppie Cotton. Poppie Cotton and friends are celebrating Valentine's Day with 12 free projects to create, use, and love. Today, I am sharing my brand new complimentary design, titled "Sweet Sips Mug Rug." This snack mat is the perfect afternoon project and can be used all year long...and bonus, it also makes the sweetest heartfelt gift.
This 10.5" x 7" mug rug has a simple foundation pieced heart, combined with traditional patchwork. It is a great project for beginners and those wanting to try out a simple foundation-pieced project (basic foundation piecing knowledge is required). I used scraps/small pieces of fabric (the largest piece is the 11" x 7.5" backing) and lovely hand-dyed rick rack from Lady Dot Creates to embellish this small quilting project. The fabric snippets I used are from the Promise Me fabric collection by Michal Marko for Poppie Cotton (and a wee bit of Country Confetti for the heart background), but this love-filled design would work well with just about any fabric you have on hand! I used a StitchnSew EZ Print Quilt Block Sheet (my favorite foundation "paper" for piecing) and HeatnBond Fusible Fleece.
I kindly ask you do not post the actual pattern on the Internet/social media or on Pinterest - instead, post a photo of the finished piece and/or direct users to this post or my website.
I hope my Sweet Sips Mug Rug pattern will inspire you to create for Valentine's Day and/or the loved ones in your life. To gather all the patterns from the 12 Days of Valentines with Poppie Cotton, visit the Poppie Cotton blog daily through February 14th. A new post with details will be uploaded daily.
If you create a Sweet Sips Mug Rug, be sure to post a photo and tag me on social media - I would love to see your version! 💗
Greetings friends - happy Friday! I am back today with a brand new quilt pattern release. Truth be told, I had a completely different plan for this pattern, but sometimes things don't work out as envisioned. So, in true Belinda fashion, I quickly changed course and decided to finish this pattern and make it available in my Etsy shop.
“Sweet Snacks Mug Rug" is machine appliqué, along with traditional piecing and assembly. It measures 10" x 7" and works perfectly for a snack mat. The pattern contains basic machine appliqué instructions, appliqué templates, and comprehensive/detailed instructions with color diagrams... and is super quick and easy to create. This 8-page pattern is designed to use scraps and small pieces of fabric...or would work great with your favorite fabric collection. The largest piece of fabric needed is for the backing (10.5" x 7.5"). This project is great for beginners or those wanting to dabble in appliqué....and is perfect for seasonal sewing and gift giving!
This mug rug brings a smile to my face, as I have it on my desk daily (the winter one is on a side table in my sewing room)...and I can envision it created with several other seasonal fabrics (I better get busy!). I hope you will spend a little time in your sewing space making a "Sweet Snacks" mug mat that fits your personality and decor.
For now, I am back to my design table and sewing studio...plus I have a new cross stitch model in the works in my stitching nest. Be sure to stop back on February 4th, for a very special Valentine treat!! 💖
