Farmhouse Fancy Fabric Tour

Farmhouse Fancy Fabrics in my Studio ©Copyright 2025 Belinda Karls-Nace/Blue Ribbon Designs, LLC https://blueribbondesigns.blogspot.com/
Hello, friends—happy Monday! (I am still traveling in Europe, but I made sure to schedule this post ahead of time.)

I’m so excited to welcome you to my stop on the Poppie Cotton Farmhouse Fancy Fabric Tour! Thank you so much for stopping by—I always enjoy visiting with you.

Today, I’m absolutely thrilled to share three special pieces I created with the brand-new Farmhouse Fancy Collection by Elea Lutz for Poppie Cotton. The moment I saw these charming prints, my imagination took off—I couldn’t wait to dive into designing and playing in my studio! Each fabric in this delightful farm-and-floral collection feels like country living come to life, exuding cozy charm and vibrant personality. These prints inspired me to create projects that are full of color, texture, and that warm, homegrown feeling we all love.

💮About the Collection

Shipping to quilt shops this month, the Farmhouse Fancy Collection has a vintage vibe and is brimming with delightful details. Picture chickens, strawberries, cherries, tea towels, quilt blocks, and cheerful florals—all wrapped in a warm, inviting palette of pinks, teals, reds, yellows, and whites. This collection is a celebration of country living with a fresh twist, perfect for creating projects that feel cozy, nostalgic, and full of personality.

💐Project 1: Mini Medi Tote Bag

This medium-sized tote bag was created by cutting mini charm squares - hence the name. It features two pockets on the outside with round bottoms and two large pockets inside, that can be created with feature fabrics or patchwork or charm square 5" precuts. It can be made with one charm pack and one yard of any fabric you choose, but I thought it was wonderful in these vintage-look farmhouse prints. The directions and diagrams in this pattern are quite thorough, so this is great project for all skill levels. I used Poppie Cotton Country Confetti Cotton Candy Dark Pink for the bag/pocket linings and handles.

🐔Project 2: Small Boxed Bottom Zipper Pouch

This small zippered pouch measures 8" x 7" x 2.5" and features one of my favorite fabric prints in this collection : Farm Quilts Red. I used Country Confetti for the lining and added a Poppie Cotton Zipper Charm—the cutest little chicken you’ve ever seen! I didn’t follow a pattern for this project; instead, I let creativity lead the way and had fun experimenting in my studio.

🍓Project 3: Large Patchwork Boxed Bottom Zipper Pouch

For this larger pouch, I went all out with patchwork, incorporating every print from the Farmhouse Fancy Collection for a vibrant, scrappy look. It measures 11.5" x 8.25" x 3" and, like the smaller version, it is lined with Country Confetti for a cheerful interior. To top it off, I added a Poppie Cotton Zipper Charm—this time an adorable strawberry! No pattern here either—I simply let creativity guide me and had an enjoyable afternoon piecing it together in my studio.

Rosy Cheeks Fabric Tour

Mini-Medi Tote Bag ©Copyright 2025 Belinda Karls-Nace/Blue Ribbon Designs, LLC https://blueribbondesigns.blogspot.com/
Hello, friends—happy Monday!

I’m absolutely delighted to welcome you to my stop on the Poppie Cotton Rosy Cheeks Fabric Tour! Thank you so much for dropping by—it's always a treat to connect with you.

Today, I’m thrilled to share the special pieces I created using the brand-new Rosy Cheeks Collection by Lori Woods for Poppie Cotton. The moment I laid eyes on these cheerful prints, I couldn’t wait to put on my quilt designer hat and dive in!

About the Collection

This darling collection—shipping to quilt shops this month—is bursting with charm. You’ll find sweet motifs like strawberries, chickens, flower bouquets, bows, teacups, roses, bunnies, and polka dots—all wrapped in a delightful palette of pinks, reds, blues, yellows, greens, and white. It’s sunshine and happiness in fabric form, and I had the best time bringing these prints to life!

Project 1: Mini-Medi Tote Bag

First up is my Mini-Medi Tote Bag, a favorite pattern of my own design and the perfect everyday carryall. It measures 12.5” W x 12” H x 3" D (plus handles with a 5.5" drop) and features:

  • Two rounded exterior pockets
  • Two large interior pockets
  • Roomy design made from just one charm pack and one yard of fabric

This pattern is ideal for showcasing small motifs and intricate details, and the Country Confetti Cotton Candy Dark Pink lining and handles add the perfect pop of color. The instructions are thorough and beginner-friendly, making it a great project for all skill levels.

Project 2: Coordinating Project Bags

Of course, my tote needed some matching project bags (no patterns for these - just playing around in my studio)! I created two:

  • Large Bag: 11-5/8” x 9-7/8” with a wool appliqué strawberry
  • Small Bag: 7-3/4” x 7-7/8” with a wool appliqué teacup

Both bags are patchwork-style, showing off the adorable prints, and feature solid-colored zipper pulls. I used my favorite Wool Blend Felt from Benzie Design and added a sweet ¼” button to each blossom for a charming finishing touch.

Project 3: “Bon Jour” Zippered Pouches

Last but not least, I stitched up three small zippered pouches using the sweetest “Bon Jour” prints (again, no patterns, just my creativity). Each pouch:

These little pouches are perfect for gifting or organizing your sewing notions.

Prairie Sisters Homestead Fabric Tour

©Copyright 2023 Belinda Karls-Nace/Blue Ribbon Designs, LLC http://www.blueribbondesigns.blogspot.com
Greetings friends, happy Friday! I am thrilled to be today's stop on the Prairie Sisters Homestead Fabric Tour - thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. I had so much fun playing with this classic country collection and have a selection of projects to share...all created with the new Prairie Sisters Homestead Fabric Collection designed by Lori Woods for Poppie Cotton. I enjoyed being creative and playing with these cheerful farm-inspired prints. This brand new collection (shipping to shops this month) has succulent strawberries, fancy chickens, and fabulous florals, along with a selection of charming ginghams…all done in a HAPPY color palette. This Poppie Cotton collection brings me joy and I knew a brand new wall hanging for my studio was going to be in the works. This month, for my projects, I didn't use any patterns - in fact, I just started playing and these were the results.

To start, I created a wall hanging with four focal quilt blocks. These special blocks were created by converting four of my cross stitch motifs from some of my classic gameboard designs. I have done this a few times over the last couple years and I am always thrilled with the results - if I had more hours in each day, I would be working on all sorts of quilt designs based on my cross stitch patterns! I am calling this quilted wall hanging "Farmstead Finds." It measures 42" x 42" and has hanging pockets on the back to make it easy to display. I used a fat quarter stack of Prairie Sisters Homestead, along with several Farmhouse Favorites (Country Confetti in Marshmallow White for the background and Country Confetti in Waffle Cone for sashing and binding...plus Gingham Picnic in Grass for the flower stems and strawberry hull). I quilted it myself on my domestic machine and it turned out even better than I envisioned. "Farmstead Finds" is currently hanging in my studio above my cutting table. Leave a comment or send me a message if you would like to see me release a pattern for it...

After finishing my wall hanging, I had quite a few pieces of fabric left from my fat quarter stack, so I decided to make a few patchwork project bags. The large patchwork project bag measures 15" W x 12" H and has tiny 1/4" buttons hand sewn at the block intersections. The small patchwork project bag measures 12" W x 9" H and has 3/4" rick rack embellishing the front. Finally, the oversized artist bag measures 5" x 11.5" - it uses one of the focal fabric prints in the collection.

Finally, instead of making one pincushion for this collection, I decided to make a bowl full of fabric strawberries. I used several of the fabrics in the collection for the berries - the hulls, blossoms and leaves were cut from wool felt (Benzie Design) - I also used red gingham ribbon and tiny applique pins. These turned out so sweet and were quite enjoyable to put together. Don't they look fun in my vintage bowl with a selection of fabric?!

Sewing Session Snippets

Hello friends, readers and Blue Ribbon Designs enthusiasts - it's another post filled with creativity! I have been keeping busy with needlework finishing, stitching, sewing and quilting for the majority of my hours each day...trying to get a handle on projects and custom orders before we take our yearly Colorado trip in September. I finished a handful of orders for my zippered project bags this past week (along with a few custom pieces). It is always enjoyable to work with the fabulous fabrics my clients supply for their custom bags...even when they send challenging fabric with directional prints and/or straight lines, it is still fun to play with all the different patterns and styles. This batch includes more With Thy Needle and Thread project bags that are created from a printed panel...but in true Belinda fashion, I have changed the instructions inserting the zipper across the top and adding rick rack to both sides of the front panel...and I've made quite a few with a boxed bottom. I also had a request for a small scissor/needle case, measuring 5" W x 4" H - I quickly wrote up a pattern and made a prototype, then made two for my client with fabrics she supplied....if there are more requests for these, I may make some for my Etsy Shop. Here some photos of projects I worked on in the past several days...

Two more project bag orders are in progress, then I start some HUGE needlework finishing orders. My holiday deadline for needlework finishing is September 1st...and sure enough packages are arriving daily. I always work in the order received and now it is time to steadily start working through those finishing projects. There are currently over 200 pieces of needlework finishing in my queue, so I am going to be a "finishing machine." These client orders contain some gorgeous needlework (LOTS of ornaments) and I can't wait to share some of the finishes with you...

Wishing you a happy and productive week!
