A "Funky Tree" Fundraiser

Class Model - "Funky Tree"
Last night I had the pleasure of attending a fundraiser for 5k for 5charitites organized by my dear friend Mary. The event took place at The Social Canvas and raised money for five fabulous organizations (Children & Families of Iowa, YESS, Iowa Department of Corrections Victim Advisory Council, Mid Iowa SART, and Blank Children's Hospital). The room was full of supporters/painters and the project for the evening was called "Funky Tree"...we had so much fun!! The Social Canvas provided the project idea, canvas, paint, brushes, apron, and easel - along with fun music, an instructor, and a beverage bar (complete with wine and cocktails)....and there were even some treats provided by our wonderful host! The instructor talks you through the painting, step-by-step...from start to finish - but everyone is encouraged to take their own path while working on their masterpiece. As you can probably tell, this project would not be something I would normally choose - it is not really my style...but it was actually quite fun to work on something outside of my creative box...something whimsical and modern - and it was for such a great cause. A marvelous time was had by all...and everyone took home a brand new piece of artwork (each one was special and unique)!

It was a fun-filled evening with good friends for a great cause...and we got to be creative...who could ask for more?!
