The wonders of nature never cease to amaze me! While working on a project today, I was hearing a commotion outside our front door...several birds singing so loudly, it sounded like they were in our entryway. I went outside to investigate...only to see the birds fly quickly from our front door to the tree in the front yard. Next to my front door, I have a beautiful basket filled with geraniums...at first glance you would only see the geraniums....but looking closer, you can see the birds have built a nest in the lower left corner of the basket...and low and behold, two tiny eggs...
I couldn't believe it - it is tucked down inside the corner of the basket...and is perfectly round! Had the birds not been making a ruckus outside, I would have never seen there was a nest...it is completely camouflaged. Maybe I will be able to do a covert operation and get a photo of the parents at the nest...
How sweet, Mother Nature sharing her gift with you:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful nest they have created! Glad you are able to enjoy this gift from Mother Nature!

Oh how wonderful! Enjoy the little ones when they come. One year we had a nest of baby birds literally right outside our window. The parents had built their nest on the wisteria vine that was attached to the wall/window there. We could watch the little ones without even stepping outside. It was great!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I have something similar - but actually on the front door. Two years ago we had to knock before we opened the door from the inside to make sure that the birds flew away first. Once I fogot to knock, opened the door and in flew the momma bird! It took us quite a while to catch her and get her back outside!
ReplyDeleteWe have another nest there this year with two eggs, but sadly I think it has been abandoned.
Wow. Awesome photos. I hope you are able to get more as the eggs hatch.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteThe birds are like us ~ They like your decorating style! :0)
ReplyDeleteAwww, this is so precious!
ReplyDeleteOne year a pair of wrens made a nest in a birdhouse on my parent's back patio. But the house was sitting on the table because it had fallen off the tree over the winter! We had such fun watching those sweet birds that summer!
