On To The Next...
So I have decide the next piece I plan to finish is Sarah Moon's Quaker Sampler (Needleprint)...a project I started in November of 2006. I picked 40-count Light Examplar hand-dyed fabric from Lakeside Linens for this project...and my threads are an assortment of silks - I ordered the Vikki Clayton Silks for this project, but was not happy with about half of the color conversions, so I changed them to other various silks I had in my stash (making it a true sampler). I am excited to get back to work on this piece and stitch these beautiful medallions....and hopefully finish another one of the UFOs I have started over the years. My early apologies to my stitching group, as this will now be the project I will have in hand each time we meet...and if history repeats itself, they may be seeing this sampler for quite some time!

Odds and Ends...
As some of you know, I have been doing some major spring cleaning and organizing...and with that I have been picking out little home improvement projects I want to get done. Last week, my husband was out of town on his yearly fishing trip with the boys and I decided to research changing toilet seats and installing them myself (which was super easy)...then when my husband returned this past weekend, he humored me by replacing all of the water faucets in our house (three bathroom sink faucets and the kitchen sink faucet), along with replacing the seals and springs in my shower faucet. I couldn't resist taking a photo of Simba being the plumber's assistant...he is such a good helper! It is nice to do those little jobs that make such a BIG difference...next up, fixing our master bathroom door (which needs the shims replaced)....
This weekend we celebrated my mother-in-laws birthday...I had so much fun "foofing" her present! Many of you know how much I like giving and wrapping gifts...and last fall I shared with you my new love of GiftGloss...I am so addicted to "foofing". The highlight on my MIL's gift - I used a bendable bloom to add a little springtime touch...this beautiful glittery flower has a small alligator clip on the back, making it easy to attach to the gift. If you are not familiar with foofing or the FoofQueens, you should visit the "features" page of their website and check out their products and videos!...it is such a fun way to "spruce up" your gifts and you don't need to have boxes, wrapping paper, and tape on hand. I am inspired every time I visit their website...their community even has great ideas for that special occasion gift. Seems like every week I "gloss" something...and I am going to start sharing some of my unique foofs with you...maybe you will be inspired to give a special gift!
...although my weekend was pretty full, I did find time to do a little cross stitch. I worked on community outreach projects for my local EGA guild (Valley Junction Chapter). I did several kissing pillows (our Chapter just signed on to make 100 more) - these 4” X 4” patriotic pillows were designed to be used as a keepsake for the children and loved ones left behind by the soldiers being deployed for military service - the soldier kisses the pillow and gives one to each of his/her loved ones to hold onto until he/she returns from war. I also worked on a handful of baptismal shawls - these are given to the neo-natal and birthing units at Mercy Hospital. I challenge you to find a local stitching group or organization that has community outreach stitching projects...for an investment of your time (doing something you enjoy), you can make a HUGE difference!
...and finally, I saved my BIG BIG BIG news for last - if you are in my local stitching group, you may want to sit down before you read the next sentence...
I have finished my Papillon Creations Mystery Sampler (can you see me happy dancing?!)...you know the one I have been working on since February 2006...the project I take every time my local stitching group gets together. I put in the final stitches this afternoon and it is ready for the framer. Thank you to all my friends and readers who have given me encouragement, compliments, and gentle pushes to complete this project! Tomorrow I will share the finished photo with you...along with a photo of the next project I need "shamed into finishing"...

Another One For The Collection
UPDATE: Today I spent the morning and early afternoon with my local (fun-filled) stitch group...and, of course, I took "the usual" Papillon Creations Mystery Sampler from early 2006 (you know, the one I told you about in February)...well, today I actually made progress and finished another page of the chart! I am down to less than a page to stitch...and we meet again in several days, so look for an updated photo soon....hey, I might actually finish it in 2010!

Snowy Robin
I guess it will be a good evening to stay inside and do some much needed model stitching. My broken finger is finally starting to heal and I am able to hold a needle much easier. I'm looking forward a Saturday stitch-in with my girlfriends tomorrow - always a special treat! Maybe I will bring that poor Papillon Creations Mystery Sampler I have been working on since February 2006....

Established With Love (SYHO)
This campaign is a fun way to interact with others in the needlework community/industry and promote heart health. Designers will be donating a portion of sales from their special to design to CAROL for Heart, a regional non-profit organization that educates and empowers women to take charge of their heart health. I hope you will look for these special designs each month! For the latest news, read the March SYHO Newsletter.

Pretty Little Pincushion
A few Blue Ribbon Designs notes...I am just finishing up my ornaments for Just CrossStitch Magazine (both the annual Halloween issue and the Christmas Ornament issue)...and I have started designing a special sampler for them to be published early next year. I finally had a new photo taken of myself today for the Christmas ornament issue...I have used the same one for the last several years, so it was WAY overdue. I have a bunch of great new ideas for summer releases and will be working on them very soon! Also, my SYHO (Stitch Your Heart Out) design will be released for April, so stay tuned for photos (they will be coming soon)....you can read more about the SYHO Campaign and find out how you can get involved by visiting the official blog. I am also busy kitting up my teaching designs for later this year....
So much creativity and inspiration, so little time...

My First Blog Award
The rules to accept the award: Thank and link to the person who gave you the award. Paste the award on your blog. Write 10 things about yourself others might not know....and then pass the award on to 10 others.
So, part of the award is to tell 10 facts about yourself (which isn't easy for me, as I don't find myself incredibly interesting) and then pass the award on to 1o other deserving bloggers (which also isn't easy, as my list of favorites is endless...).
Ten little known facts about me...hmm...this could take a while...
- I am a music junkie and collect all sorts of music memorabilia and autographs...I still collect and listen to vinyl record albums.
- In my teen years I was a "punk rock girl" and an avid skateboarder.
- I still secretly watch most of the MTV line-up.
- I don't go to the movie theater because I am a germaphobe.
- When I am upset, I clean house.
- I am a HUGE Michigan Wolverines fan (although I did not attend college there).
- I get really grumpy when I am hungry.
- I can recite all 50 states in alphabetical order (thanks to a song I learned in 1st grade).
- I am a Longaberger addict...seriously addicted...in need of an intervention.
- I would love to design greeting cards and/or stationery.
Now, in no particular order, here are my nominations (I wish I could nominate 100 more - I need to win more awards, so I can award more of you!!):
Celtic Heart Knitting and Quilting
Crafting With The Stitch Witch
My Life In Threads
Three Cool Pugs and Me
Stitchyangel's Treasures
Shari's Sharings
Pumpkin Patch & Co
I'd Rather Be Stitching
For The Love of Cross Stitch
Days of A Sampler Lover
I thought about writing a little something about each of these nominations - but then I realized, I was going to be saying the same things for each blog. These are all incredibly talented and creative people...with amazing skills in needlework and/or quilting and/or crafting....and I enjoy each and every one of them! So go visit and investigate these links...and who knows you may just find someone new to follow....

I can now get back to work with a smile on my face...and look forward to tomorrow morning (I'm taking some time off to visit a quilt shop and have lunch with my girlfriends....hmmm...guess who is getting these little treat bags?!....).
Take a little time to find your happy place....
